Things to do to Prepare your Home for Interior Painting

Interior painting is a great home improvement project that can freshen up a room in no time. However, there are many different things that you need to do to prepare your home for interior painting. Interior paint job may leave a lot of paint to spatter, mottled color or missed spots behind. Therefore a good preparation is required before you actually apply paint color on the interior walls. Mentioned below are the things that you should do to prepare your home for interior painting.

Keep Your Furniture Aside:

It is important to remove all the furniture in your room before you start your paint job. This is to avoid running wood and upholstery with spilled or spattered paint. In order to ensure the furniture remains in good condition to be brought back into the newly painted home at the end of the paint project, you should not just leave them into a vacant place where it could be damaged by any unwanted accidents. The best way you can protect the furniture in your room is to rent a temporary container or storage unit during the paint job. With a storage container, you just need to put everything in it and keep it at the center of the room, away from the walls to be painted. Alternatively, you can just cover your furniture with plastic to protect it.

Take Care of Your Flooring:

You would surely like to keep your carpet or wood floor in proper shape after the paint job is done. Therefore, you need to make proper arrangements of protecting your flooring. However, you cannot protect your entire floor just by keeping a few pieces of newspaper under your roller tray. To protect your flooring, you should use professional drop cloths throughout the floor instead. The plastic sheet could be cheaper than the drop cloths, but they are easily punctured and can shift under your feet while you work with paint. A canvas drop cloth, on the other hand, can protect your floor against spills and also keep paint from being tracked through the rest of your room if by any chance it gets on the soles of your shoes.

Remove Wall Hangings:

Another important thing is to remove all wall hanging leaving the wall to be painted completely free from all objects. Painting with lots of wall hangings, clocks etc are actually very difficult and more time consuming and it risks damaging your décor as well.
